Unlike in the free world (the allies), in which "due process of law" is conducted for it's citizens; in Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan, "common people" could be shot or bayoneted to death (executed-along with other methods), WITHOUT probable cause, trial, jury, or court proceedings. Within the occupied regions of the AXIS powers, when a person was "suspected of saying something bad against the AXIS", they could be arrested and executed; sometimes digging their own graves prior to execution. World War II was a clearly defined war between friend and foe.
