The concentric castles of the 13th century were, as far as defence was concerned, excellant the only problem is they were often very expensive to build and many in Britain were either unfinished or abandoned.

Here are some of the bad points of a stone castle:

Hard to build

Expensive to build

Took a long time to build

The castle can be penetrated by a trebuchet or a catapult

After the drawbridge is destroyed the inside is defenceless

There is more specialized skills needed to build it

The stone is heavy and hard to transport

Took a long time to build

The attacks can dig underneath and put in the wood there on fire and leave it to burn so it will blow up the corner and you can get in and attack.The answer above is completely incorrect and the person has gotten confused with Square Keep castle

Advantages:

  • Archers on the inner and outer wall can fire at the enemy at the same time
  • if the outer wall is breached the attackers must still breach the second wall.
  • The castle is made of stone thus can't burn.
  • It is harder to catapult objects over the high wall

Disadvantages:

  • Materials are more expensive
  • More workers needed to build
  • More time needed to build
  • More soldiers live in the castlesl; thus more mouths to feed
