They wanted to make the London 2012 logo modern. Also I did not notice that the weird shapes said 2012 in it until a few months ago.
It comes in many colours such as Pink, Blue Orange and green. It was designed by Wolff Olins. But many did not realize it said 2012 so people thought it was bad and so did I until you saw the number 2012. They should of made it more clear of what it said.
