Anne and the rest had to be careful not to make much noise, because there were people in the office bulding in front of aand under the Annex. They always had to keep the curtians closed, but they could open them a little bit at night. they had to be quiet mos of the day, but when the workers went to lunch, they were free to be quite liud, just not overboard. What i mean by that is that they could vacum and clean and such, and talk, but could not yell and could not go downstairs. Life was very hard in the Annex.
Anne Frank went into hiding with her family in a secret annex in Amsterdam to escape the persecution of Jewish people during World War II. They remained hidden for over two years until they were discovered by the Nazis in 1944 and deported to concentration camps. Anne Frank died in Bergen-Belsen camp in 1945, but her diary, which she wrote during her time in hiding, was later published and became a symbol of the Holocaust.
it was bad ^^ you could do a bit better than that mate.
Terrible in the beginning but better over time because no one had privacy or the same easy living conditions as they did previously.
Anne Frank had a relationship with a boy who also lived there, Peter Van Daan.
There was alot of arguments in the secret annex with the two families living there, the Franks and the Van Daans and Fritz Pfeffer, know as Mr.Dussel
The "Secret Annex" was clean, and had all sorts of furniture, and there was a kitchen with running water, and a bathroom.
Although the quarters were pleasant enough (excepting the fact that 8 people lived in the relatively small space), there were a multitude of unpleasant things about the lifestyle there, some of which were physically unpleasant, but most of which were emotionally or psychologically unpleasant.
Although they had a bathroom, there was no bathtub in the "Secret Annex." Thus, they had to use washtubs in order to bathe.
Because the "Secret Annex" was in the upper part of an office building, and only some of the employees were trustworthy enough to be allowed in on the fact that people were hiding there, all of the people in the "Secret Annex" had to stay completely silent (which meant they couldn't whisper, walk, or use the bathroom) during business hours.
Because of the economic problems during World War II, they almost exclusively ate monotonous and inexpensive bulk foods, such as potatoes, green beans, kidney beans, and spinach. They rarely even had butter. Sometimes, they had no choice but to eat partially rotten foods (once they had rotten lettuce, and other times they had to rub the mold off of beans so that they could eat the beans).
There were rats in the attic. To handle this, they had two cats, but the cats had fleas.
Because eight people lived constantly in the confined quarters of the "Secret Annex," there were continual quarrels, which weakened morale.
They obviously could never go outside (even for a moment), during the over 2 years while they were in hiding.
Those who hid in the "Secret Annex" lived in almost constant fear that they would be found or ratted out to the Gestapo (German Secret Police), and then be sent to concentration camps.
There were 3 burglaries to the building where the "Secret Annex" was located. This put them in terrible fear, because if the burglars found them, or if the police who came to inspect afterward found them, they would be sent to a concentration camp.
one of Anne franks challenges was being in the secret annex for 2 years
amststerdam
Anne Frank's annex was located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, at Prinsengracht 263. It is part of the Anne Frank House museum.
Anne Frank's secret annex had two floors. It consisted of several rooms where Anne and her family lived in hiding during World War II.
Anne franks family went in to hiding
Into an annex; which was above offices; in Amsterdam. Which is also the Netherlands.
Anne Frank's secret annex was built in 1739 as an extension to the existing building in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Anne and her family went into hiding there in 1942 during the Nazi occupation.
Potatoes, other things may have been, but potatoes. (:
It was probally dark and misrabel. No one made a sound and was scared.
The Van Daans joined the Franks in the secret annex in 1942.
In the Annex.
In the Diary of Anne Frank, the Franks gave Dussel a pair of gloves as a birthday gift. It was a thoughtful gesture to show their appreciation for him in spite of the tense living conditions in the Secret Annex.
