businesses were closed for months people homeless lack of transport links international aid
1995 Kobe earthquake is also known as the Great Hanshin Earthquake. This devastating earthquake occurred on January 17, 1995 in the Southern part of Hyogo Prefecture. It lasted for 20 seconds and had a magnitude of Mw6.8 on Moment Magnitude Scale. This earth quake had a terrible short term as well as long term affects. As common with such tragedies, the short term effects also convert to long term effects gradually. Same was the case with Kobe earthquake. Around 200,000 buildings collapsed, around 1 km of the express way collapsed and 120 quays were also destroyed. Apart from that in the short term the electricity supply was disrupted. The people were left outside as they were afraid to return home. There were 716 after shocks of this earthquake. In the long term damage, there were 6434 people recorded to be dead. It also caused ten trillion yen of damage in Japan. Railways and roads were damaged. Kobe never regained its former position of world's busiest sea port. The Japanese stock market faced a decline.
An earthquake or other natural disaster can have a significant long term impact on the economy. Destruction of infrastructure can have a significant negative long term effect on local businesses.
the long term effects are like rebuilding and getting people jobs and a lot of people moved away
There are various long term effects of earthquakes. Loss of life and property can be one.
economic decline and urban blight
Short term effects:1/5 of Kobe was homeless (300,000 people)fires started from gas pipes. The major ones (about a dozen) were uncontrolable for 2-3 days!no gas, electricity, waterbroken water, gas, and sewage pipes leaked everywhere
loss of income, illnesses would have spread throughout the town
Business's' close down, transport links can close, people die, utility line are down, fires? (I'm relating mine to the 1995 Kobe earthquake but most of these happen in other earthquakes)
Well, the short term effects were that the buildings were short and an easy target. The long term effects were that the buildings were that there were long tall buildings which were a not soo easy target which was ok for the people who lived on the top of the building....... x <3
the long term effects are seismic waves which are little earthquakes after thr REAL earthquake; they will go on for who knows how long....the short terms the length of the REAL earthquake the truth is no one knows how long it will take to recover from Haiti it might take years it might take more or less.......just help in whatever way you can!!!
The Hashin highway collapsed, train tracks became twisted and buckled, roads cracked, water mains burst, houses and buisnesses knocked down and over 6400 people died.
long term effects is ....
There were alot of effects because of it...people died and people lost families that what happened in hati in 2010!
= Short term and long term effects from a volcano? = = Short term and long term effects from a volcano? =
the short term is that you fail at live
The Hanshin earthquake brings on the same short-term and long-term effects as most other natural disasters. The areas affected will see a strong influx of income as the area rebuilds, and in the long run, this income will provide a more reliable, productive economy.
