The Romans believed in many Gods but mainly believed and worshipped elements of nature such as the earth, sea, sun and sky. The romans were polytheistic people. They spent most of their lives trying to please their Gods. They did this because they believed the Gods had great influence on their daily lives and fates. For example if they appeased the Gods they would watch their family and keep them safe. In order to impress the Gods they believed that certain rituals and rites must be performed. If the Romans did something that made the Gods angry they would be punished severely for it.
