Her 1932 - 37 period Lockheed Vega 5, in red and gold livery, was nicknamed the Little Red Bus or Old Bessie, She crossed the Atlantic in a solo flight in this plane on June 17, 1932.
The best known and final aircraft was the Model 10-E Electra, also a Lockheed product. There were two, one a spare damaged in a minor accident at Honolulu. This was the plane she and Fred Noonan were flying when she disappeared in the Pacific in July, 1937.
