In the current issue of Air & Space (May 2012) it states that"five U-2s were shot down with Russian=developedSA-2 surface-to-air missiles . . ." This is a in an article where a Chinese pilot is interviewed and the context is U-2s shot down by the Chinese. The statement is made, however, by the interviewer as partof a question and not by the Chinese pilot, so I assume it is accurate. I also assume that this is in addition to Gary Powers being shot down over Russia. Reading this was the first I had heard of other U-2s being shot down.
