There are many people - Jesus, The Apostles, Paul and other Saints known and unknown. The truth is all Christians are important leaders that have contributed in that they spread the word of God through their actions. This is God's will - that his message be spread everwhere.
It sounds like they would be called missionaries-those are people that spread their religious beliefs, and they can travel from anywhere to anywhere. They can even just spread their message where they live.
The Beattitudes
Well Christians believe as the Book of the Acts of the Apostles, better known as Book of Acts, tells us that it was the Jesus' disciples that first spread the word of Jesus in Jerusalem and Judea. Then persecution of these early believers helped to scatter them to other areas, and they were the ones to carry the message of Jesus from there to the Mediterranean area and beyond. Of course the Apostle Paul and his co-workers were also very instrumental in carrying the word of Jesus to much of this region as well.
Jesus Christ delivered the spiritual message/teachings but it was Christ's disciples who began the religion known as Christianity.
the main people who were powerful back then was: Jesus, Herod, The Romans, Tax Collectors and Priests.
One reason Jesus came was to establish the Church of God on Earth as a place for the Firstfruits to gather and grow via the gift of God's Holy Spirit - the Comforter that Jesus promised. After His death, the Apostles and disciples spread this new message throughout the lands and soon afterwards, 'The Way' became known as Christianity - first coined in Antioch, Turkey.
