cotton was considered as "king" in the south.
Slavery in the deep south exploded in size. There was a transition of labor from cleaning cotton to planting and harvesting cotton, because the Cotton Gin cleaned the cotton much faster than manual labor could. Ironicly, the cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney, who was a northerner, in an attempt to end slavery. The opposite happened.
The Cotton Belt. The south.
Cotton was the crop king of the south.
the
Positive: -boosted the economy immensely in the southern regions of the united states. - Cotton began to be traded amoungst the states, causing a growth in port cities such as Savannah, GA & Charleston, SC. NEGATIVE: -slavery exploded in the south ( even though there was a congressional ban on the importation of slaves put into effect in 1808.) -cotton was the MAJOR crop produced in the south, this made the south very over reliant on cotton.
North/south and negative/positive have nothing to do with each other.
If you define one direction (for example, north) as positive, then the opposite direction is negative.
positive attract negative positive push away another positive negative push away another negative
The north and south poles and negative positive effect

No it is a positive number, because there are two negative signs you cancel them. For example: 9-(-4)=13 Since there is a parenthesis between both signs (parenthesis means to multiply) you multiply. Negative X Negative = Positive; then the -4 becomes positive and finally you just add. Very complex isn't it. Think about it like this. Say you're in a car on a North-South road. North is positive, and South is negative. If you're a positive number, then point your car North, if a negative, point your car South. Now if you are to be added, then drive forward, and if you are to be subtracted, then put in reverse and drive backward. So in the above example, start at 9 miles North of a reference point (mile zero). Then you are negative 4, so point the car South, but since you are subtracting, drive in reverse for 4 miles (you will be moving toward the North, which is in the positive direction), and arrive 13 miles North of the reference point (positive 13). Hope this helps.
There were many positive and negative effects on the people in South Africa because of the missionaries from Europe. The fact that many South Africans were taught to read the Bible can be both a positive and negative effect depending on the person you talk to.
