Many people who supported Prohibition were women. They usually had to deal with drunk husbands or family and etc. They didn't like their husbands go out and spend the money. Especially if they had children. The main focus of this was to ban alcohol in the country.
Unfortunately the amendment was a HUGE failure. Everyday regular citizens were breaking the law. Aside from that, it led to a rise in organized crime.
