It had dislodged the old social order, overthrown the monarchy, and brought the church under state control.
In the French Revolution there were 3 different social classes or (3 estates). The 1st estate was the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church had 1 percent of the population, and paid only 2 percent of their income to the government. They also did good things for the poor. The Second Estate was the Rich Nobles. The Rich Nobles were 2 percent of the population, and paid 0 percent of income to the government. The Rich Nobles also owned only 20 percent of land. The third estate of the social classes was made up of everyone else. The third estate was made up of three groups, the bourgeoisie, the workers, and the peasants. They make up 97 percent of the population, with 80 percent of peasants. The bourgeoisie had to pay high taxes and could not always do what they wanted to do. The workers had low wages and a lot of times they were very hungry. Sometimes the workers would even steal food to get what they wanted because they were so hungry. The last of the people in the third estate were the peasants and they were forced to pay a lot of taxes, and were very poor. Overall the inequality of the social classes was not fair. It was not fair because the richer the people were, the less taxes they had to pay.
For France's government, they were taxing people and paying half of their income to cover the debts. Louis wanted thought about extending taxation to France's to nobility and the Catholic Church. In 1788 because of a hailstorm, crops were destroyed, and the economy declined even more. Food was also very low; and since people mainly ate bread a lot, the price of bread increased.
The Revolution changed France greatly. It changed the way the government worked. This was done by groups of different social parties (Estates) came together to join and create a small 'council' where they held meeting to protest against certain things that they did not see as fair (like tax's and rights to vote etc.)
the Social Contract didn't impact the French Revolution in anyway.
