Colonel James Fanning was the commander of the garrison at the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. He played a significant role in the defense of the fortification against Mexican forces in 1836. Fanning's leadership and the garrison's resistance became symbolic of the struggle for Texan independence. However, he ultimately faced overwhelming odds, leading to the fall of the Alamo.
