What effect did the rule of Louis XIV have on his second successor Louis XVI?

AnswerLouis XV was the King of France and had Louis XVI (his grandson) as his successor. Louis XVI was only 19 years of age when he became King of France (his grandfather Louis XV had died of smallpox). Louis XVI, unlike his two younger brothers, never wanted to become King of France. He was very decisive less and shy, wanted nothing but the best for his French people, but did not know how to reign his country best. Therefore, during Louis XIV's and Louis XV's reign, a horrible debt in the countries finances was created (400 million livres!), which was the legacy to Louis XVI. The latter never could set that straight again and was eventually guillotined for it.Louis XIV was the Sun King, le Roi Soleil. His reign was studded with success and glamour. It was he who built Versailles, a palace unrivalled before or since. He made France the dominant European power, but in doing so, as stated above, he bankrupted the state. When Louis XVI came to the throne he inherited not the glamour, but the debt, and could not successfully run his country. However, the reign of the Sun King (so-called to associate with Apollo - the Sun was the King's emblem) was not solely responsible for the failure and execution of Louis XVI

Was Louis XV of France related to the emperor of Austria?

Yes but not very closely, Louis was a Bourbon of France and the Austrian Archduke would be the Holy Roman Emperor and would have been an Austrian Hapsburg. The two families are interlinked by marriages at various points. The closest one I can think of is through Louis XV's father - Also a Louis and Duke of Burgandy who was the son of the Dauphin (The heir to the French Throne and also a Louis) which takes us to Louis XIV our Louis XV's GreatGrandfather who managed to out live both the Dauphin and the Duke of Burgandy which is why Louis XV gets to be king rather than his dad or grandad.Louis XIV "The Sun King" was probably France's greatest ever king and he had married a Spanish Hapsburg "Marie-Therese" The Spanish branch of the Hapsburg Family is related to the Austrian Branch but there was a war (of the Spanish Succession) to prevent the two crowns merging. So Yes Louis XV would be related to the various Emperors in power during his reign - but a bit tenuously. This is all a bit handwavy sorry!
