The USA is a democratic republic, meaning people vote for people to vote for them.

The Soviet Union was Communist which is supposed to be the perfect system, it means equality so veryone would have the same rights and money and housing, etc. But all communist countries are corrupt so the government officials are higher up than all the people, and the people are treated poorly.
