All of the same diseases that we get these days.

However things like;

  • Rickets (caused by malnutrition)
  • Scurvy (caused by vitamin deficiency)
  • Smallpox (a killer disease in the Victorian period)
  • Typhus (caused by dirty water)
  • Typhoid (a killer disease then but not as virulent now)
  • Bacterial infection (there were no antibacterials in the early Victorian period)

Were much more prevalent, malignant and widespread than they are today. It was the Victorians who realised that unclean conditions lead to disease and death, so it is unsurprising that they invented the phrase "Cleanliness is next to Godliness".
