Apart from enjoying a drink or two, not much.

They were very different types - Lee an impressively noble character, Grant quite humble and ordinary and dressed like a tramp.

Both were vigorous leaders who tried to urge bold action, but when they came up against each other in the last year of the war, the action was so slow that it almost lost Lincoln the election.
