No. Wikis are usually run by different "owners" (or founders). Of course, anyone can edit the two though. Some people from Wikipedia may come to WikiAnswers and edit (or read their answers) and vise-versa.

What are some affiliated sites of WikiAnswers?
Since WikiAnswers is a wiki (a collaborative project run by multiple people), there are many "affiliations" of it. Not necessarily all the same goals though. There is Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia, there is Wiktionary, the online dictionary and there is wikiHow, the online how-to manual. Whatever the wiki, they're all usually free to read and edit. Wikis are used for the purpose of their site name. For example, WikiAnswers, you can tell is a Q and A site. While Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia. wikiStrategy is a game-guide wiki, and wikiHow is a how-to manual. A wiki should have an overall goal; and when that goal is determined, editors use that wiki and improve it or read off of it.

Why do some people not take WikiAnswers seriously?
Like all "wikis", WikiAnswers is open to all who would like to contribute. Though not all have bad intentions, some do purposefully try to vandalize this site. This causes some viewers to not completely trust what is posted at WikiAnswers. WikiAnswers cannot always be trusted (especially) with opinion questions, due to its openess to anyone, who have the ability to change the answer.

No, WikiAnswers is owned and operated by Answers.com. WikiAnswers has no relationship to Wikimedia except that its code was originally based on Mediawiki. "Wiki" is a generic term, like "blog." Although Wikipedia is by far the most successful wiki, Wikimedia did not create wikis. They were invented by a computer programmer named Ward Cunningham.
