The first Christmas Day of the 21st century was12/25/2001, thirteen years ago. Let me illustrate how that works:
When you count from one to ten, you do so thusly: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Note the beginning number, and the last number. The same is true for counting one to one hundred: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6....100. One to ten is a decade. One to one hundred is a century. One to one thousand is a millennium. You never begin counting at zero (0), as zero is not a number; it is the absence of a number. So, the first century (where anyone counting then) would have begun 1 January of 1 AD, and it ended 31 December 100 AD--see 1-100. The 18th century began 1 January 1701, the 19th century began 1 January 1801, the 20th century began 1 January 1901, and the 21st century began 1 January 2001. The first Christmas of each century then would land on 25 December of each of those first years.
