Paralysis of a dog's back legs is typically the result of a spinal injury, resulting from trauma, simple wear and tear on the spine, and as an adjunct effect of hip dysplasia. While this condition may correct itself (if the paralysis is the result of transient swelling at the foramen perhaps), it's usually non-reversible.
