Not so long ago, the worlds first commercial 3d scanner wasreleased which was the first development. Again, not very long ago, the worlds first 3d printer was released. This combination means you can scan any item (i.e. barbie doll) and make copies just like with paper , making copies of things in a 3d environment. This is just one innovation, there are most likely many more to come.
