Omega oil.
It depends on the country. Some countries, like Saudi Arabia, have not prepared for the depletion of its oil supplies at all since they have at least 100 years of oil wealth to go. Qatar and UAE, though, know that their supplies will be exhausted in less than 30 years at current extraction rates, so they have diversified. The first thing that they have done is built beautiful structures to increase tourism. The second thing that they have done is to model themselves as financial centers. They have also built massive airports to turn their countries into regional and interregional travel hubs. Finally, they have also used their oil money to invest in sports teams and foreign corporations.
