If all of the Phytoplankton disappeared the Eco-system of which it lived in would dissappear. This is because Phytoplankton is the producer in a food pyramid which means that it provides for all of the levels above. Even a Barracuda depends on Phytoplankton to feed ir's prey.
Few clues...
Well I know for a fact that most ocean animals (with gills that use oxygen) would die, because plankton use carbon dioxide to create oxygen in the water. It would also cause a huge chain reaction in the food chain, because almost all animals in the sea would die from starvation.
This would cause *severe* changes in many cycles necessary for life.
All animals living in the sea would die.

Producers are: organisms that produce there own food, such as plants. I do do not believe that animals can be producers-it's impossible. An example are like plankton, algae, and other plants that are i the ocean.
Zooplankton (pronounced ZO A PLANKTON) is plankton
Plankton are consumers, because they don't produce anything or decompose anything and they consume sunlight and algae.
Some plants are coral, kelp, seaweed, and algae.
