Do fleas stay on your dog even after you give it a bath?

if you dog has fleas you should take it to the vet or call them. flea shampoo will help but the fleas wont go away the first time. the shampoo will get them out but not the first time you use it. and using regular shampoo wont help. and they have different types of products for fleas. you can even go to walmart in the pet section. so good luck!

Is it okay to bath a ten week old puppy?

Your not suppose to bath your dogs often because of their natural oils, depending on the breed of dog it wont hurt bathing more often than others. Especially if you have a hound dog, its not recommended to bath them often unless you have to. As for flea shampoo, my personal opinon is that any shampoo that lathers will actually kill fleas on the dog, because the foam gets into their lungs and they suffocate. I use frontline on my dog, and it works really well. And if you have problems with fleas, now ask your vet about getting a capstar pill, it will kill them within 24 hours.

What effects can a flea have on a cat?

A flea is not deadly to a cat, but can be irritant, and harmful ifyour cat tries to scratch.Signs of Fleas :Your cat will be scratching. There is a parasite even worse than fleas, which are tics. They are nasty little brown/yellow/black bumps, which usuallysettle between paws, behind ears, on top of the nose, near the rear end,on their tummy and necks. If flea treatments wont act immediatly, the cat will start to sleep more, feel drowsy, and constantly making brisky movements.Fleas can be contaminated, so if in the house you have a pet dog, ( or any other furry creature ) ,it might be necessary to give them both a Anti-Flea treatment, which is shampooing or combing regularly. If flea infections take place on your cat, you must make sure to see your local vet.Fleas aren't deadly - but they can be highly irritant to your cat.

If your cat is on advantage and goes outside all day and is inside only at night will your flea problem go away inside the house?

Suggestions:1) No it wont. So maybe try a flea collar that helped a lot for my cat.2) No it really won't go away. you need to go to the vet and they sell a special spray that you need to spray around the house. follow the instructions coz it's quite potent and the hoover and clean thoroughly. this should stop the problem.3) Advantage is to prevent fleas on the cats body. It is not intended to kill the fleas already in your house. They can survive by biting you, your other pets, even the mice in the walls. If the infestation it too great to be taken care of by the spray bottle, you'll need to buy flea bombs from the hardware store. Each bomb releases a cloud of pesticide, so be sure to follow the safety instructions on the package.

How can you kill fleas o 2 weeks old kitten?

Vinegar will not kill fleas on any animal. Bathing is the best option. The safest flea product on the market for kittens is Revolution which you can use in kittens as young as 4 weeks. However, you can use Advantage on a nursing mother which will protect the kittens as well. The best thing i have found for killing fleas on a kitten is dawn dishdetergent. wet the kitten cover it in dawn scrub it good and leave the dawn on for 10 min. I know the cat will not be happy but it will kill the fleas and wont harm the kitten like some chemical ones can

How long does frontline spray take to kill fleas and ticks?

Answer 3Spot-On Pesticides such as Frontline, Zodiac, Defend, Bio Spot, Advantix, Adams and Advantage trigger adverse reactions in dogs and cats, shorten life spans, cause terminal illness, and premature death. Chemicals injected into your pets blood stream compromise with their vital organs, including the liver, kidney and thyroid. Recent research suggests that the toxic effects lead to a 25% reduction in life expectancy in those animals treated, and inevitably to a painful and premature death. Pets treated with such toxins also experience nausea, nervous disorders, sleeplessness, flaky skin, scabs and other uncomfortable effects created by a compromised immune system.Veterinary Edit:Spot on Pesticides ACTUALLY spread throughout the sebaceous glands on the skin so that they cover the pet fully, there is NO for the medication to get into the pets blood stream. The safest products out there to use are actually Frontline, Advantix, and Vector. Frontline even did a study on the potency of the active ingredient in their product and found that a small dog 6-12 lbs could consume the contents of ten 88-132 lbs tubes and still be perfectly fine with minor diarrhea. The problem with fleas is that they lay 20,000 eggs per day per flea, so if you see 1-2 fleas, in a few weeks you will have 20,000 - 40,000 fleas.

What to do if kittens have fleas?

Go to your vets and either get the flea collar Ovi or, get the Program Kit. In 'Program' they are little capsules and you snip off the end. Push the hair back between the cats shoulder blades and squeeze onto the skin DO NOT RUB IN!!! This will get rid of the fleas.Other tips:Put an extra Ovi collar in the bag of your vacuum cleaner.Vacuum every day for two weeks and then continue on every two days. Get into corners, under couch cushions, etc. Fleas love the corners of rooms or under cushions of sofas. Of course they will be in carpets as well.If you find you are really infested with fleas have your cat stay at the vets for 24 hours and get a Environmentally safe Exterminator to come in. This means you will have to leave the house for a few hours. I've only had to do this once. From then on I vacuumed every second day.People can also bring in fleas. Just mowing the lawn the fleas can land on a person's clothing or shoes and be brought into the house.I have tried a lot of different things to get rid of the fleas my cats had. The best I found without going to a vet is Aadams brand spray for your pet. it comes in a blue bottle and is a little pricey, but the fleas literally fell off of my cats once they got sprayed with it. Definitely worth the extra money spent on it. I found this at my local Petsmart store. Also, for the house I found that Raid Flea killer works great. It comes in a purple aerosol spray can and I found it in the chemical department (with outdoor bug repellant stuff) at my local Wal-Mart.***************************************************************You may think about beginning your own flea circus - - - Just kidding, the better one is above.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I would wash my cat or have it professionally groomed to remove all of the "flea dirt", feces/dried blood and all of the live fleas. Then, I would apply a flea treatment to the cat. Don't use the cheap ones, they can kill your cat. I used a foam flea shampoo from Hartz and it almost killed my cat. I thought it would be less stressful than a bath. I ended up having to give the cat a bath at 10:00 at night while it was foaming at the mouth. Go with the flea treatment recommended by the vet or groomer.
