Thomas Edisons contributions to science are extremely exaggerated. He invented almost nothing. His work was improvment upon already invented items. The main reason he did improve these items was to sell them for profit.

transferring energy for free meant the investors would not get a way to bill the users. Greed is the word. They are using his inventions. More devices are coming out with contactless charging. You just place the item on a charging mat or holster. The charge is transferred using coils.
