The man with the golden touch is a character from Greek mythology named King Midas. He was granted a wish by Dionysus where everything he touched turned to gold, but soon realized it was a curse when he accidentally turned his daughter into gold.
When granted a wish by Bacchus, he wished that everything he touched turned to gold. He later requested that this power be taken away.
There are two things he learned: "All that glitters isn't gold" and "Be careful what you wish for, you might get it".
Dionysus, god of wine and grapes, gave Midas any wish he desired after Midas found his friend Sileas.
King Midas was a foolish king. He came across a little man asleep in his garden.it turned out to be a servant of god Dionysus so as Midas was cunning looked after the man and treated him as a king. After he returned the man to Dionysus and as a reward for treating his servant so well he was granted one wish . Midas wished that everything he touched would turn to gold. From then on, he was unable to sleep and unable to eat. He eventually turned his daughter to gold. He went to ask for the wish to be returned and Dionysus asked him to go and wash in a river and the gold will float away......
Midas was never a greek god. He was a friend of Dionysus who was granted a wish. His name is the same in Roman and Greek mythology.
i think Midas wish because it was dangerous
King Midas received the gift of the golden touch as a reward for his hospitality to the satyr Silenus, a companion of the god Dionysus. Impressed by Midas's kindness, Dionysus granted him the wish that everything he touched would turn to gold. However, Midas soon realized the curse of this gift when even food and drink transformed into gold, leading to his regret and desire to reverse the wish.
