purely and simply the appearance, some prefer lighter wood and others darker IE mahogany and also price. more expensive wood equals more expensive violin. weight may also play a part. Younger people will want a lighter instrument.
Thank you

Wood from trees such as maple, oak and birch. (I'm not sure whether birch is a tree or not; just a guess)
Pan flutes, didgeridoo, recorder are some of many
Depends on the instrument but my cello is made of black cherry wood
The woodwind instruments are a family of instruments made out of wood. They produce sounds by blowing air into them. The members are flutes, oboes, clarinets and bassoons.
It is best to start a child off on a string instrument. Stings are harder to play than brass instruments so, mastering a string early is the best bet.
Different string instruments have different ways to make sound. Pianos hit the strings with a felt covered "Hammer", a Guitar creates a sound when the guitar player plucks a string. Either way, each string instrument makes sound by the vibration of the string.
You pluck a string, the string vibrates, the sound waves enter the soundhole, bounce off of the wood(different woods result in different tones)and it all bounces back out of the soundhole. Please see the related link for details.
None. The column of air inside the instrument vibrates. Compare this to a string instrument -- the string vibrates, of course. With the reed instrument, such as a clarinet or bassoon -- the reed vibrates. The vibrating reed causes the column of air inside the instrument to vibrate. However, the brass instruments do not have vibrating parts. What makes the column of air vibrate is the buzzing of the player's lips!
By being sharpened by cutting bits of wood off of it using a knife

If the beads are glass or metal I suggest soaking them in hot water until they are loose enough to pull off. Don't try this if the beads are made of wood.

If you take off the leather on a baseball, you will find a lot of string. Under that string is about 5 times as much yarn. Under the yarn is a wood ball with rubber around it.
They are usually made of Grenadilla wood or Rosewood.
