I have been patternmaker for 20 years,traditional wood patterns are made

of kiln dried mahagony,we have done harley cylinders and heads,etc.

it really depends on how many castings will it make before wear,wrp,break etc.

white pine , plywood or mdf is cheap for limited production,remember size plus

draft usually 2 deg,plus shrink,.012 for cast iron.
