In a motte and bailey castle, a blacksmith typically lived within the bailey, the enclosed courtyard area. This location provided easy access to the castle's inhabitants and soldiers who needed tools and weapons. The blacksmith's workshop would be located near the living quarters, allowing him to work efficiently while serving the needs of the castle's defense and daily operations.
A Bailey in a Motte and Bailey castle would be used to put the stables, guard room, blacksmith etc...
It's where the king/queen stays. Also, if a country is under attack, then the king or queen would stay in the castle, and ontop of the castles there would be archers etc. the castle would be there to defend the country i guess.
Although there are no specific records of a Blacksmith being present that I can find, I'm sure there was. The castle was built in the late 1860's & 70's when most smaller ironwork was was done by hand, and it was before the came automobile along. Who else would doit other than a Blacksmith/Farrier?
very carefully
Burn it down.
Yes, it is possible to not castle out of check in a game of chess. If castling would put the king in check or move through a square that is under attack, then it is not allowed.
When a knight's castle was under attack, he would begin his day by donning his armor and gathering his weapons, preparing for battle. He would rally his fellow defenders, strategizing their defense and ensuring the safety of the castle's inhabitants. Throughout the day, the knight would lead the charge against the attackers, coordinating defenses, and participating in skirmishes while also tending to the wounded. If the siege continued, he might also send messages to nearby allies for reinforcements or supplies.
Bomb it
so if the castle was under attack they could enter the castle gates and they would be safer than if they were outside.sorry its only short but I'm meant to be doing my homework about castles thats due in tomorrow
They would use a tactic called undermining.
An archer would use his/her bow and arrow to fire at attackers attacking the castle. Most of the archers would try to protect the castle. Some would attack castles. They would try to aim for the head and maybe the feet. Some attack/defend on horses.
