A river that has experienced uplift and therefore becomes erosive again is called a rejuvenated river.
Rejuvenated river is a river with a gradient that is raised by tectonic uplift. In other words it is said to be rejuvenated when the base level that it is flowing down to is lowered. This can happen by uplift of land, or by a sea or lake that it is flowing into becoming lower.
A flat raised area of land caused by uplift is called a plateau. Plateaus are characterized by their elevated and relatively flat top surface, often formed by the tectonic forces of Earth's crust pushing the land upwards.
This process is called "uplift."
The land beside a river is called a riverbank. It is the area along the edge of the river where the water meets the land.
