It was Jo-Cur rather Jocur and that is all my mother ever used on me in my pre-teen years and until I started doing my "doo" for myself. Jo-cur was referred to as wave set and today there are similar products, both major and minor brands, that abound. Simply said, it was a semi-gooey, not overly thick jell product that hardened after a period of time when used in your hair. At whatever place that you set your hair, that's where it stayed when combed out. Of course, the quantity used and the quality of hair had a bearing on how long the set would hold up. Adding water and rec-combing world reactivate the jell as with modern jells. The time frame in which I used the product was from the late 1930s through the early 1950s.
