If given the opportunity and it smells good yes a cat will eat rotting food. It would even eat out of a trash can if it could. Not all would but most would.

A business pays for its trash removal. In some cases the cost is based on weight. Putting your trash in their receptacles is 'stealing' from them. In many places it is against the law to do so. However, you taking something to work with you and tossing it in the trash is no big deal, but bringing bags of garbage in would certainly be an issue!

Medicine was important to Sumerians because when the Sumerians lived together the more they would eat and the more they would use materials and throw them away, the trash would pile up. The Sumerians would step in the trash or fall in the trash and would catch a disease from the trash. The trash would spread many disease's around and a lot of Sumerians would get sick. The Sumerians would have to use medicine to cure their people who were sick.
Are plastic trash cans as durable as metal trash cans?
In theory, it would seem that a metal trash can would be more durable. However, there are many durable plastic trash cans for sale that can withhold a lot of wear and tear.
