It seems as if the RC Rock Crawler is supposed to go very slow. Not all products mentioned the speed however on one product the speed is 3.2mph. So since the crawler is known more for the ability to maneuver over rocks then for its speed.
I would say being a experienced racer a team associated B4 or a B44 and for trucks SC10 these are racing cars how ever for beginners i would recommend a traxxas these are not racing cars at all

Im not sure about a specific model but any plane that is made out of foam is great for beginners because they are tough.
