To find out the cost of operating 60 1000watt Metal Halide lamps for 10 hours, you multiply the amount of power (in kilowatts) by time and hours. That will give you kWh (kilowatt hours), then you find out how much your power costs in $/kWh, then divide the kilowatt hours you are using by the cost ($/kWh).

What is the difference between an HQI metal halide lamp and a regular metal halide lamp?

An HQI metal halide lamp belongs to the family of metal halide HID lamps. Hydrargyum quartz iodide (HQI) lamps differ from standard metal halide lamps in that they are often smaller and are offered in double ended versions and require a special socket. The gasses and metal halide salts used in HQI and standard metal halide lamps are the same.

Is Led lumen better than metal halide lamps?

Metal Halide lamps produce many more ANSI lumens than an LED lamps. However, given this fact, many manufacturers are focusing their production on LED technology because they produce light that lasts 4 to 10 times longer, and they do not get hot like metal halide lamps.

Can t5 lamps replace metal halide lamps?

Technically yes.But you need to check the practicality of it.

Where can one find more information about metal halide lamps?

Metal halide lamps are featured in gardening, home and lighting and reef keeping websites. There is a lot of information about them on the website 'the reef tank'.

What is the Harmonized Tariff number for a Metal halide lamp?

A metal halide lamp's Harmonized Tariff number would fall in the category of "8539.32.00 Mercury or sodium vapor lamps; metal halide lamps". See "Related Links" below for the US government's online list of Harmonized Tariffs.

What has the author E W Taylor written?

E W. Taylor has written: 'Some aspects of the use of metal-halide discharge lamps for film lighting' 'The CSI 1KW metal-halide discharge lamp' 'Film lighting using metal-halide lamps' 'A study of peak multiplexed signal level in the context of 2 1/2-or 3-channel surround-sound transmissions'

Can you run 3 1000watt metal halide lamps off of a single pole 40amp breaker?

Current is power divided by voltage. If you are in the part of the world that uses 110-V AC... 3000 W ÷ 110 V = 27.3 A That's only 68% of 40 A; you should have no problem assuming you have no other heavy loads on the circuit.

What are advantages of ed28 metal halide lamp over a ed37 metal halide lamp?

There really are no advantages of an ED28 over an ED37. If they are both metal halide lamps then the only difference between them, provided they have the same wattage and color temperature, is that they have different dimensions and different size bases. They will require different size sockets and will likely require different ballasts.

Can a 400 watt high pressure sodium bulb be used in a 400 watt metal halide ballast?

I actually have a 400w hps ballast and I can also use my 400w metal halide bulb in it with no problem. So what your saying is they do, but they dont? the answer is, they dont. You can get universal bulbs hps to plug into a mh ballast they have a miniturized igniter inside the bulb. As I understand it, a 400W metal halide bulb can be used with a 400W hps ballast, but not the converse. A MH bulb has the igniter in the bulb, and the HPS has it in the ballast--which pretty much goes along with your comment above. Apparently the double presence of the igniter in the HPS setup is OK.you can run metal halide in same wattage's but not hps in metal halide systems.you can run such as (same wattage's)250 watt metal halide-400 watt halide ect in hps systems but not hps bulbs in halide systems. they make conversion bulbs to run halide in hps as well and vice versa.

How many leds and watts to replace a 250 watt metal halide?

It depends. The Wattage ratings do not indicate how bright any type of bulb is, just what its power consumption is. In general LED lamps put out more light for the power used than metal halide bulbs, but there is no standard as to how much more. Most lamps indicate their candlepower or 'candela' ratings on the package, and the vary by type of bulb and manufacturer. The 'candela' is the SI base unit of luminous intensity.
