There are many reasons for this issue.
Problem with the IDE cable or slot
Problem with Harddisk
Bios setting may be wrong
how to rectify samsung hard disk. detect BIOS don't detect another system for slave hard disk. then, not installed os.
look at it
Verify that the BIOS has been configured to detect a second hard disk drive
When the hard disk is dysfunctional or has crashed, the laptop cannot detect it. The error message 'No hard disk drive 0' will appear as a result.
i will use data recovery software
It is mentioned on top of the hard disk.. after detect it the bios setup shows the information..usually includes brand name or initial letters..
As you have recovered data from the failed hard-disk, it would be best to buy a new hard-disk.
It depends. If it is a laptop hard disk, and you know the interface (IDE or SATA, there is a difference), you would purchase a 2.5" IDE/SATA Hard Disk Enclosure. If it is a desktop hard disk, and you know the interface (IDE or SATA, there is a difference), you would purchase a 3.5" IDE/SATA Hard Disk enclosure. Hopefully this helps.
It is hardware. However, it is possible to create in software a "virtual" hard disk and this would be software.
The 'ON' button, the hard disk...
The hard disk enclosure is sealed with a filter so that the disk can operate without impurities getting in the way. A single particle of smoke is several times larger than the distance between a disk and the read/write head. Anything that is even that small and certainly anything larger like a dust particle, would cause problems and probably disk failure.
Some laptops provide a utility to lock a hard disk with a password. These passwords are not the same as BIOS passwords. Moving a locked hard disk to another machine will not unlock it, since the hard disk password is stored in the hard disk firmware and moves with the hard disk. Also, adding a new (unlocked) hard disk to a locked machine may cause the new hard disk to become locked. Also, note that hard disk lock passwords cannot be removed by reformatting the disk, fdisk or any other software procedure (since the disk will not allow any reads or writes to the disk, it cannot be reformatted.)You can test to determine if your hard disk is locked by attempting to access it in another laptop.
