bad ground, burned out bulbs, faulty power feed toi it bad connection /crorosion of wires ,bad sending units
because you are one alot of ol timers call the check engine light and idiot light
oil;lights are nicknamed idiot lights they only come on after the damager is done an idiot doesnot check oil reularly therefore the lights are not reliable at all
The check gage light ( if equipped ) lights up if the fuel tank is at or near empty , the engine coolant temperature is high , or the oil pressure is low
you have a short
Possibly. The check engin light (aka idiot light) is a 'catchall' indicator that something is wrong in the engine compartment, especially since the tranny is hooked up to the engine.
This sounds like a bad alternator or bad electrical connection to the alternator. First check your battery voltage with the engine at idle. It should be about 13.6v-14.2v. All the idiot lights get their ground through the "battery" failure light. That is often caused by a bad connection of the small red wire at the back of the alternator. Most likely brushes are worn down on your voltage regulator. Replace it, fairly easy job, two screws hold it attached to the alternator. It is located next to the oil filter.
Transmission, maybe. Check engine light
A dash cluster that uses lights instead of gauges to monitor engine vitals (eng temp, eng oil pressure, charging system) was also called the "Idiot Lights".
IT IS LOCATED IN THE ENGINE YOU IDIOT!!!!! How can you call that person an Idiot, you are an idiot. The fuse is located in the fuse box under the dash on the passenger side. In the engine, what a moron.
check the brake fluid level
Gives the impression of a massive vacuum leak. (Too bad cars don't come with all gauges instead of idiot lights). Either that or some sort of emissions problem.
The temp guage could be faulty, where it has gone bad, or the heat sensor itself had gone bad unless the vehicle is actually getting hot. O2 sensor wont cause rough idling but it would cause these types of problems: * Surging and/or hesitation Poor or a decline in fuel econmy Failed exhaust emissions testing Premature failure of the catalytic converter (rotten egg smell) Indicator "idiot" check engine lights coming on
