What would cause the steering wheel to rattle and shake in a Pontiac G6 2005?

Sounds like you may have warped your rotors by letting the brake pads wear too low and the metal against metal friction has cut grooves and essentially warped the surface of the rotors - new pads and rotors should fix it but if you must take care of that somewhat urgently once you get to that point.

∙ 8y agoIf the rattling and shaking in the steering wheel happens when you are driving the car it is caused by a defective intermittent shaft in the steering shaft. This is an easy fix that will cost around $250. Have the intermittent shaft inspected.
