did you mean timbers?? i.e. framing or joists or flooring?? timbers usuallyweren't "cured they were air or kiln dried the flooring could have been finished with anything from a wax substance to shellac. an alternate to dried lumber was green lumber that usually was coated with pine tar or some people used to soak tar paper in gasoline overnight and brush the liquid over the timbers the following day to prevent wet material from drying to fast. hope this helps
