If an animal is extinct, there are no longer any species of it in the biosphere. Extinction has many impacts on the ecosystem it belonged to. It may cause overpopulation in some other species, or further extinction in other species. It depends on the animal. And if you're talking about all animals disappearing from the globe, let's hope it never happens. We may disappear too.
