Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. Without hydrogen, no other element could exist, and so matter as we know it couldn't exist. Essentialy, the universe as we know it wouldn't exist without hydrogen!

∙ 16y agoWe would simply not be here. Noy only us, but the universe would not be here. The most abundant element in the universe is hydrogen, and so the universe as we know it would not exist. Hydrogen is present in all stars, and it conversion to helium through thermonuclear reactions is the energy source that produces the heat and light in stars. Our sun is an average star that converts hydrogen to helium, profucing energy. If there was no hydrogen, there would be no sun, and hence no planets and, as there was no energy, no life.

∙ 6y agoLife on Earth doesn't rely on free hydrogen at all. However water and all the molecules which make up living things contain bound hydrogen atoms, so it is difficult to see how life could exist at all without hydrogen.
