It would be more food for whales!

But really for this to happen whales would alomst have to be non- existant

If krill were to be over populated then they would take the oxygen away from other fish... therfore some fish could be gone from the oceans.

I think they are too small to get caught in the nets.

Add to that, a single Blue whale eats over 3 tonnes of them a day, other Baleen whales eat them too so there's got to be a lot of them out there. It would be very unlikely that, even if we tried, Humankind could have any impact on krill populations at all.

If it did happen, however, one possible outcome would be an increase in plant plankton and algae in the oceans leading to a decrease in ocean oxygen and all marine life. This could lead to a "major extinction event". Something similar is believed to have happened to trigger the "Permian-Triassic exticntion event" (or at least part of the reason).

The rate at which they are being eaten would not be greater than the rate at which they are decomposing, in other words they would die of old age and rott in the bottom of the ocean. Bacteria would eat the plakton and take the oxygen form the surrounding waters. These waters would then be lethal to any nearby swimmer, or to an entire ecosystems. Planktons are critical to an ecosystem. I like plankton.

If krill got taken out of the food web/chain then the whales would not have anything to eat and would probably die.
