If a cell was treated with an active transport inhibitor than the cell would most likely die. These inhibitors are poisons that kill the proteins that are coming across the membranes. Sometimes the inhibitors just block the active transport site, just blocking the proteins from coming through.

What are three ways molecules can cross the cell membrane?

cell membrane is a lipid bi-layer which allows only fat soluble sunstances to pass through and the remaining essential materials pass with the help of carrier protien..so on this basis the transport is of two types(1) active transport: Active transport uses energy(2) passive transport : does not use any energycheck it out : active-transport

They will still enter the ER but transport to their destinations will be impaired.

What role does a cellular membrane play in active transport?

Active transport is the name given to the process of using energy to move substances into cells against what would happen without the expending of energy. Think of an island you want to visit. It is too far away to have a bridge so t is required to expend more energy than usual to get there--either by boat or plane, for example. Osmosis or diffusion account for movement of substance within another substance or across a membrane. It could be argued that there is energy involved in these movements, but no ATP is used. Active transport requires either ATP or electrochemical potential for movement. Sometimes, active transport moves substances against a concentration gradient. In the case of roots, the concentration of "fertilizer" or ions in the soil may be far less than in the tissues of the roots, yet active transport allows more ions to enter the roots. This is the method of obtaining glucose, for example, from your intestinal contents in the cells of the intestine. Active transport is like a ferry, but you have to pay the ferryman to gain passage.

What type of transport supplies a cell with glucose?

thanks to: Bobama 08. question: what transport supplies a cell with glucose? answer: The passive transport supplies a cell with glucose. A passive transport is the diffusion of particles through the proteins. The particles move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. The cell does not need to use any energy to make this happen. Whereas, an active transport is the movement of particles through proteins against the normal direction of diffusion. Particles are moved from an area of low concentration to an area of high concentration. The cell must use energy to make this happen. This energy comes from the molecule ATP, which stores energy in a form that cells can use. Therefore, the passive cell transport supplies a cell with glucose.

Osmosis does it need energy?

No, actually diffusion is a kind of passive transport, and osmosis is a kind of diffusion. Any passive transport can happen without energy (contrary to active transport). Since, all the things you listed were passive transport, they happen down the concentration gradient and need no ATP.

When did Transport Tycoon happen?

Transport Tycoon happened in 1994.

Why does active transport happen?

Active transport requires energy because you are going against a gradient. Active transportation moving from low to high concentration, while passive transportation such as osmosis and diffusion go from high to low concentration. One example of passive transportation is a river. Floating downstream does not require any energy. You are simply moving with the gradient. If you wanted to go upstream, you would have to paddle. This requires an input of energy similar to active transport.
