Overstretching of a muscle initiates a stretch reflex spasm where the muscle spindle cells relay a message to the spinal cord, and an efferent message is sent to motor units to contract the muscle, thereby causing a muscle spasm.
NO! of coarse not!
When muscle fibers are overstretched they tear.
strain
When a muscle is over stretched it is called hyperextension. This is sometimes called a pulled muscle. It can be anywhere from minor to severe.
Both contaction of the agonist muscle and relaxation of the antagonist muscle

A strain is an overstretched or "pulled" or torn muscle. a sprain is an overstretched or torn ligament (holds bones together at a joint), and a fracture is a crack, chip, break or crush of a bone.
A sprain is an injury in which a muscle is overstretched or torn. Tendinitis is an injury that occurs when a tendon becomes inflamed or torn. That's the difference between a muscle sprain and tendinitis.

It can occur when muscles are overworked or overstretched. (SOURCE: Prentice Hall Science Explorer Grade 7 (my science textbook)I hope that helps you! ^_^
Tear would occur in the muscle, and fluid would often build up and cause the muscle to swell. The best thing to do for treatment is to either get some ice and elevate the posture of your pulled muscle, keep the ice on it up to 24 hours or just elevate it and rest it at, home it will soon go away. It usually lasts up to 2-3 weeks. Movement is restricted because of the pain, so don't try to move it or it will probably strain a lot more if if you take a wrong move.
You may have overstretched a muscle in the temple or forehead of even eye.
