Frost is basically dew occurring in a below-freezing temperature. Warm air can carry more evaporated water than cooler air can. So when a warm, humid air hits a cooler object, it condenses the evaporated water into liquid water onto the surface of the cooler object. When the cooler object is still above freezing, it is dew.
