What would have happened if gollum had lived after bitting off frodos finger and reclaiming the ring?

My guess is that he would have left the cave, but one of Sauron's minons would have taken the ring and given it back to Sauron.

What happens to the gollum?
He leads frodo an Sam towards mordor and slowly turns frodo against Sam. Then when he falls off a cliff after a fight with frodo, we don't see his for a while until Sam and frodo are climbing up the slopes of mount doom. He then attacks them and tries to take the ring. Eventually Sam and frodo escape and are standing on the edge of the lava about to drop the ring into the volcano when gollum hits Sam on the head with a rock and then bites frodos finger off and claims the ring for himsefl, jumping around with joy. THEN frodo attacks gollum an they fight for a bit before they both fall off the edge. Frodo manages to hold onto the rock but gollum, who is holding the ring, falls into the lava and dies.

He went out of his Hobbit hole and risked it all, his respect from hobbits, and his life! Coming back with little to no respect but he was a hero for all he did. You know you only live once and Bilbo realized that!

After the riddle game in The Hobbit, Gollum went back to his small under-ground island where he lived to retrieve his one precious possession, the One Ring. He was planning on putting the Ring on, thus turning invisible, and then he decided that he would sneak back, still invisible, and attack Bilbo and kill him.
