If you are referring to the Japanese Invasion of Northwestern China during WWII and their idea of "Manifest destiny" in the Asian continent, the world was extremely different as a result of this Asian conflict between Japan and China. Americans were horrified by what the Japanese Imperialists did at the Rape of Nanjing. This lead to Japan being a major Axis threat to the Allies and drew much needed attention. This eventually lead to much of the battles in the Pacific Theatre, which would eventually determine Japan's outcome in the war.
