1) Better weather radar coverage: both in terms of space (currently spaced ~ 300 miles apart) and time (takes 6 minutes to complete a "full volume scan"). If had more & faster radars, severe wx would be detected and the public alerted much quicker.
2) Greater computer prediction capacity. Current weather prediction models are "run" 4 times per day. Would be nice to run 24 times/day. But that necessitates data about the atmosphere -- not only at the surface, but 1 mile, 2 miles, etc. above the surface -- that is often only available 2 times per day. So more data & more frequent computer models.
