I wish someone would post an answer to this one as my 1996 4 cyl Contour has this problem aslo. It paases smog with room to spare but has the idle problem. Also I wsh postings would give more info such as: what engine -4 or 6 cyl & be more specific as it makes a huge difference on getting an answer
