Christa McAuliffe started as a Girl Scout Brownie. At the time, Girl Scout Brownies started at age 7, so Christa would have started in 1955.
As a Girl Scout, Christa McAuliffe earned badges, participated in community service, sold cookies, went camping and hiking, and whatever else her Girl Scout troop chose to do. Girl Scouts do many things, and it is up to the troop and the adult leaders to choose and arrange the activities. Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Council has a Christa McAuliffe library of memorabilia and a lodge at their Wabasso Camp named Christa's House. Christa was also a Girl Scout troop leader!
