According to Wikipedia, "Paul's conversion can be dated to around AD 33 by his reference to it in one of his letters."
Paul was on "the road to Damascus" when God visited him. He didn't actually 'find' Christianity (God), because he wasn't actually looking for it. God found him on that road, but at the time, Paul was actually called "Saul". He was Saul of Tarsus, a valiant and dedicated Roman soldier who was on his way to root out more of the Christian believers and turn them over to the authorities for punishment.
Paul did say he was the servant of God, but I do mot think he said it in every book.
